We found it galling enough, sometimes, that the law told us what we couldn’t do. But we didn’t know when we were well off. Not content with telling us what we can’t do, liberals and other Democrats now craft laws to tell us what we must do.

The worst of it is when they tell you what you must say. When they are able to force you to say things that you know to be untrue and abominable, they torpedo your self-respect square amidships. Boom! Straight to the bottom.

No one can stand up to tyranny if his self-respect has been dissolved.

College Speech Fascists Lose Another Lawsuit

After four years of being suspended from his livelihood, a professor at Marquette University in Wisconsin has won a lawsuit against the school and will be reinstated with full back pay and benefits (https://www.wnd.com/2018/09/prof-returns-after-beating-university-in-free-speech-fight/).

Supposedly a Catholic university, Marquette apparently opposes the word of God when it comes to sexual morality. The professor criticized, on his own blog, a graduate assistant for slapping down a student who didn’t support homosexual “marriage.” “Gay rights,” babbled the assistant, are now “undisputed” (really?), and anyone who doesn’t think so is “homophobic.” The professor was punished for criticizing that.

Marquette doesn’t much care for Catholic dogma, but it’s all aboard for Far Left liberal fascist dogma. But the prof has sued them and won. Won everything: the college got skunked by the Wisconsin Supreme Court. And sternly rebuked, too.

The fact is that speech codes and all the rest of the looniversity hogwash are blatantly unconstitutional and cannot be honored by any court of law. So we need more lawsuits of this nature–and the plaintiffs ought to start asking for punitive damages.

And the American people ought to demand an end to all public funding of the universities. Why pay them to train up little fascists?

Why I’m With the GOP

From time to time, I take flak for being unabashedly Republican. That is not to say I trust or respect the GOP leadership: saying that would be untrue. But ours is a two-party system, and third parties are nothing but a waste of time and votes. You’re either with the Stupid Party or the Evil Party.

Democrats are wedded–and “welded” might be an even better word–to principles and policies that are irredeemably wicked, to say nothing of insane. I do remember a time when normal people used to be Democrats, but that time seems to have passed. So you might say I’m a Republican because it’s the most practical way of opposing the Democrat Party.

If you vote for any Democrat, here’s what you’re voting for, and make no mistake about it: abortion; “transgender” stuff; same-sex marriage, and you’d better endorse it or else; criminalization of religious and political beliefs; criminalization of “climate change denial” (don’t laugh: it was on Hillary’s platform in 2016); erasure of our immigration laws; disastrous experiments in “open borders”; destruction of created wealth by burdensome and non-helpful regulations; the return of the “mandate” portion of Obamacare; subordination of American interests to the UN and other “global” bodies; an all-out plunge into laws and regulations to fight imaginary “climate change”; transformation of official government agencies, that we all pay for, into partisan organs of the Democrat Party, charged with stifling dissent and opposition; the purposeful embrace of socialism…

Had enough? Need I go on?

Let me make the usual disclaimer: there are plenty of corrupt swamp rats in the GOP. It would be an excellent thing to weed them out. The Republican donor class would love to inundate America with a flood of cheap labor from the Third World. These Republicans are not our friends, and there are plenty of them. Nevertheless, the Republican Party is the only tool in the box right now, and we’d better use it.

The Democrat Party must be totally defeated. Realization of its goals would be the thorough destruction of America. They have not been bashful about telling us what those goals are.

It is the party of Antifa.

It must be utterly defeated and driven into oblivion, never to return.

And then we can start weeding out the vipers in the GOP.

It’s true that as a young man in the 1920s, H.P. Lovecraft was what some today would call a “racist.” In fact, he had little face-to-face contact with people in general, and had no opportunities to practice racism. Later on in his short life, he became a socialist. But I don’t hold his naivete and inexperience against him. The great fantasy writer knew very little of the real world.

Our friend “jessicafischerqueen” recently went into a local bookstore, looking for some collections of H.P. Lovecraft’s stories. There weren’t any on the shelves. It turned out that they kept the Lovecraft books under the counter, like pornography–because Lovecraft was “a racist.” So you shouldn’t read anything he wrote!

And you need Them to make your decisions for you! You couldn’t possibly read an H.P. Lovecraft horror story without being turned into a raging racist! You couldn’t possibly just ignore the writer’s occasional throwaway lines that wouldn’t pass muster today. Oh, no! Today you read The Case of Charles Dexter Ward; tomorrow you join the KKK.

Since I wrote this, a reader, “John Jr.,” has alerted me to some further information about WordPress deciding to ban Fellowship of the Minds. This argues that WordPress succumbed to heavy pressure from the fake news giant, The New York Times. I haven’t had time to check that.

Our friend Bob Knight has a column this week in The Washington Times (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/aug/5/public-scapegoating-about-tweets-and-emails-of-yor/) which, among other outrages to sanity and common sense, informs us that the Washington Nationals’ shortstop must meet with Major League Baseball’s “vice president for social responsibility and inclusion.”

See, it has been revealed that this 25-year-old athlete made some enemy-of-the-people tweets when he was a teenager, and now he has to apologize to assorted “communities” of Precious Cherished Minorities and meet with the Lord High Jidrool of Baseball to “determine appropriate sensitivity training.” Sweatbox, lobotomy, self-criticism sessions–whatever floats their boat.

Just once, just once, I wish somebody accused of voicing “hate” umpteen years ago would reply, “To all of you who may have been offended by something I tweeted when I was 17 years old… eat me!”

Once upon a time I was a walking encyclopedia of baseball. How I loved it! But then they merged the leagues, American and National, to kill the competition, adulterated the product, and have now seasoned the already unpalatable mess with heaping spoonfuls of Political Correctness. So I have learned to live without baseball.

One of these days I’d like to live without Political Correctness.

Doc Sacked for not Using ‘Preferred Pronouns’

A doctor in Britain’s National Health Service has been pronounced “unfit to work” because he wouldn’t use the “preferred pronouns” demanded by some patients–that is, he refused to call men women, and women men (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5930593/Doctor-fired-government-role-insisting-gender-determined-birth.html). He had worked for the NHS for 26 years, most recently interviewing persons who made disability claims: some of whom are going to be trying to scam the system in the first place.

He had, they say, committed “harassment” against these patients, according to the 2010 Equality Act.

So he was fired for refusing to say things he knew were not true.

See, that’s how leftid tyrannies really get their hooks into you. They make you say things that you know are not true, because you’re afraid of what they’ll do to you if you don’t. This waters down your integrity and erodes your self-respect. Liberals don’t like you to have any self-respect.

Is that what this whole transgender thing is all about? Destroying the self-respect of everyone in the Western world? Because anyone in his right mind knows there is no such thing as “changing your sex,” etc.

Stalin broke the spirit of a whole nation by making persons publicly admit to crimes which everyone knew they did not commit.

This scheme is more ambitious.

‘Christian Nation’ Billboard: Down

After protests by the mayor of Dallas, the Dallas Moaning News, and a bunch of atheists, a billboard reading “America is a Christian Nation” has been taken down (https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2018/jun/18/america-christian-nation-billboard-removed-dallas/).

Because, you see, the message is “divisive” and “exclusionary” and “a myth.”

If America is not a Christian nation, that’s a tragedy.

American Christians once upon a time created a nation, then unique in the world, allowing the free exercise of religion–any religion. The First Amendment guaranteed it. It goes to show you should never expect gratitude.

The billboard was paid for by the First Baptist Church in Dallas. Now atheists plan to gather in front of the church and hold a protest. Just in case anybody comes out whistling a hymn or something.

Remember that Democrat slogan from 2016? “The government is the only thing we all belong to.” They meant it literally. That’s their religion: the state is their god.

O Lord our God, when you judge this nation, please remember that these things are done without our consent, against our will, and over our objections. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

How many times have we seen “college authorities” climb down from high-handed ridiculous actions when credibly threatened with a lawsuit? They just about always do. They’re like cockroaches: shine the light on ’em, and they scuttle for cover.

California Senate Bill to Criminalize ‘Fake News’ (and they get to decide what’s ‘fake’)

After failing once, last year, California’s state legislature is trying again to ban “fake news” about medicine, politics, and government (https://www.naturalnews.com/2018-04-09-california-state-senator-who-pushed-vaccine-mandate-now-seeks-to-criminalize-fake-news.html#).

Last year State Sen. Ed Chau proposed the “California Political Cyberfraud Abatement Act,” which would have banned “election-related fake news.” After loud and widespread public protest, the Senate pulled the bill without a vote.

But now State Assemblyman Richard Pan is back with “SB1424 Internet: social media: false information: strategic plan”–a law that would make it a criminal offense to be wrong, mistaken, or in any way “deceptive” in reporting political news. You could even go to jail for writing a satire, if it stung them hard enough.

Here’s my question. Why have these leftids suddenly stopped trying to pass themselves off as “moderates,” and decided to let us see who they really are and what they really want to do? Do they believe they’ve won our hearts and minds? Well, that would be delusional. Or do they believe they are now in a position to get away with it?

It’s hard to believe Mr. Pan’s bill would survive even a feeble Constitutional challenge, but it looks like he thinks it will. Why does he think that? Is he that far gone, or do he and his playmates have something up their sleeve that we don’t know about? Apparently they think they’ve found a way to suppress any and all political commentary that they don’t like: to silence any and all opposition with a threat of prison time.

For as long as I can remember, leftids have hidden behind a mask of good intentions and posed as moderates. Now they’ve stopped doing that. Now they’re right out there in the open, pushing their neo-Stalinist program for all they’re worth.

What made them take off the mask?

I think we need to know that.
