‘Sorry–I Believe the Bible’ (2016)

See the source image

It’s hard to find “Biblical scholars” (LOL) who believe the Bible. These same people would object to Darwinism being taught by Young Earth Creationists. I think it’s because they’re just not very nice people.

Sorry–I Believe the Bible

I have been writing fiction, and reading it assiduously, all my life–unlike some “scholar” at a bonzo seminary who needs to get out more often. I’m here to tell you, as a fiction writer conversant with the history of fiction, that the Bible is non-fiction. The Bible is truth. Because the techniques of fiction needed to create a Bible were never even thought of until the 19th century–and can you think of any “Bible equivalent” that has stood the test of time? How many fake “Bibles” have been written, and passed unnoticed into oblivion?

The real Bible–the one dictated by the Holy Spirit over thousands of years–lives on. And it will never pass away.

By Request, ‘Leaning on the Everlasting Arms’

This is one of my favorite hymns, and Erlene requested it sung by Alan Jackson–Leaning on the Everlasting Arms.

I first heard it in a thriller movie, of all places–Night of the Hunter–sung by Robert Mitchum and Lillian Gish.

Celebrity Norbert!

I do wish this video were longer, but a minute of Norbert is a minute of joy. He hasn’t yet graduated to feature-length movies. A proposal to remake Gone With the Wind with Norbert in the role of Admiral Halsey fell through when they couldn’t find an aircraft carrier.

‘Doing Journalism’

Lara Logan rips NY Times after reporter blasts Trump, CDC: 'These are not accidents ... Give me a break' | Fox News

The journalism school at Fimbo University has tossed out all of its traditional journalism courses in a campaign “to bring news reporting into the 21st century,” according to Dean of Journalism Dr. Horace Pravda. “Our students, upon graduation, will be the cutting edge of modern journalism.”

“All the old ways of doing journalism have got to go,” he said. “We’ve abolished all the old courses and replaced them with new ones.” Like these:

*Sucking Up. Let those public figures know you’re in their corner all the way! Open borders, transgender, sweetheart deals for China and Iran–you name it, we’re on it!

*Concealing Facts. Never let the public know anything that the Democrat Party doesn’t want them to know. Presidential candidate’s son under investigation for a plethora of assorted crimes and conflicts of interest? Never, never print it. And ban it from the social media.

*“What Is Truth?” This is our honors course! Let’s face it, “truth” is overrated. In this course, students will learn there’s no such thing as “truth.” There’s only “your truth” and “our truth,” and “our truth” always wins!

*Lying 101. Our introductory course trains journalism students in the finer points of lying and not getting caught. Not that getting caught will ever get you fired, but who needs the hassle? Someone once said “There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.” Lying 101 will make you adept at all three!

“Forget about the news,” said Dr. Pravda. “Our job is the fundamental transformation of America! How else do you think lawless riots get turned into ‘mostly peaceful protests’ in the headlines?”

Dr. Punyamurtala Kishore, persecuted hero

This is the first of Martin Selbrede’s 18 articles on the pioneering addiction treatment work of Dr. Punyamurtala Kishore and his persecution at the hands of Massachusetts medical and law enforcement authorities.

https://chalcedon.edu/magazine/massachusetts-protects-medical-industrial-complex

Once they’d successfully “demonized [him] as a monster,” the authorities set about discrediting Dr. Kishore’s character, ruining him financially, and finally packing him off to prison.

His crime: finding a better way to treat opioid addiction instead of just replacing one addictive drug with another.

These are long articles, but they’re important. With opioid addiction claiming thousands of victims all over the country, Dr. Kishore’s sobriety-based approach produced far better results than what the medical establishment had to offer–and for this he was severely punished.

All 18 articles are available at http://www.chalcedon.edu/ .

We Have Lost Another Saint

Dr. Kishore (L) with Martin Selbrede

Dr. Punyamurtula Kishore, whose pioneering work in the treatment of opioid addiction set new records for effectiveness–yet landed him in prison–has died.

Our Chalcedon print magazine, Faith for All of Life, ran 18 articles about him by Martin Selbrede, starting in 2014. All 18 are available at http://www.chalcedon.edu/ .

Dr. Kishore, frustrated by the ineffectiveness of the medical establishment’s approach–replacing one addictive drug with another–came up with a sobriety-based treatment program instead. It worked. At least, it worked much better than the old way. And they couldn’t forgive him for that.

Dr. Kishore sacrificed his good name, his livelihood, and his freedom for his patients. He fell ill in April of this year and died on June 20. A movie about his life and work is in post-production.

We don’t know how many lives Dr. Kishore saved. We wish he could have lived to see his methods adopted in all 50 states (several have already done so) and his work publicly vindicated.

For the details of Dr. Kishore’s work and sacrifice, see Martin Selbrede’s articles on the Chalcedon website.

‘Art’ by Hunter Biden (It’s Expensive!)

Hunter Biden, Untitled (2020). Courtesy of the artist and Georges Bergès Gallery.

Eat your heart out, Rembrandt!

Hunter Biden, controversial son of The Big Guy, has become an artist and recently sold one of his paintings for $500,000. He’s got a dealer and everything! But the name of the sucker–er, buyer–has not been revealed. Don’t hold your breath waiting for it.

Hunter’s art is abstract. That means he can’t draw.

Now, why would anyone in his right mind pay half a million bucks for a bird cage liner perpetrated by this… person?

Well, if you’re nice to Hunter, The Big Guy just might do you a favor. A real big favor. A favor worth, say, half a million dollars.

Do you believe any single one of these corrupt characters will ever spend a day in jail?

‘Beware the Komodo Dragon’ (2017)

Dinner is coming–and it could be you.

Fortunately for everybody’s peace of mind, Komodo dragons are rare and tend not to live in populated areas. Which is good, because this–the world’s largest living lizard–is one of the few land animals with the inclination and the ability to eat people.

Beware the Komodo Dragon!

No kidding–you really can get eaten. By a lizard!

This creature grows up to 10 feet long and 300 pounds. It’s an expert ambush predator. That means you don’t even know it’s there until it takes a bite out of you. And the bite is poisonous.

They’re very easy to avoid, though. Just don’t visit any of the islands where they live.

‘O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing’

Can we do better than to start the day with a hymn by Charles Wesley, performed by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band? O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing–sung the old-fashioned way.

The hymn shop is open to all hymn requests today–so don’t be shy!

Are These Cats Quite All There?

What’s going on between the two cats in this video? The one has an attack of the zoomies. The other doesn’t, but has decided he doesn’t want to get left out. Left out of what? Honk when you figure it out; I’ve given up.

Astounding Fact: It’s very hard to tell when your pet tortoise has the zoomies.
